When he was just nine years old, his mother passed away. Years later, his dear sister died.

When he was 23, he started a business and failed. At the age of 26, his first love died.

Later in life, his three sons died at the age of 4, 12 and 18. He suffered clinical depression, and his wife was sent to a mental health asylum.

He entered the political career, but was defeated in the elections ending up in 8th place. He was later also rejected for the job of a land officer. He was again defeated when he contested for elections.

But finally, he went on to become the President of the United States of America.

Yes, that was Abraham Lincoln. The man who preserved the Union of America, paved the way to abolition of slavery, strengthened the federal government, and modernized its economy.

To summarize: Never Give up

It is not the number of failures or tragic incidents that happen to us that we should be worried about. It should be the quality and persistence of our attempts that we should be looking at irrespective of whether we fail or succeed. Look at a spider. No matter how many times its web is destroyed, it doesn’t get angry, it doesn’t cry, it doesn’t give up, it simply starts building a new web again from scratch. Now that has a great lesson in it. Never give up and always never ever hesitate to start your life from scratch.
